Deputy Commissioner Mansa Mrs. Navjot Kaur , IAS said that she herself is visiting villages on a daily basis and meeting progressive farmers and they are being appealed to motivate other farmers for environmentally friendly disposal of stubble .
He said that the administration officers , agriculture officers , cluster , nodal officers are stationed in the fields , who reach the spot on getting to know about any incident . He said that the farmers are being put in touch with the baler owners so that they do not face any problem . He said that 15 types of private industries are taking stubble in the district . 165 balers given on subsidy for stubble management and 30 balers are privately managing stubble .
Chief Agriculture Officer Harvinder Singh said that this year paddy was sown in 1,45,839 hectares of area in Mansa district , from which an estimated 9.18 lakh m . Tons of stubble is to be produced . So far , more than 85 % of the crop has been harvested in the district and 58% of the stubble produced from it has been managed by the department through various machines . Along with this, farmers are managing stubble through 5048 machines like Paddy Straw Chopper , Mulcher , Super Seeder , Smart Seeder and Happy Seeder etc. provided by the department on subsidy for stubble management with in situ technology .
They appealed to farmers not to burn stubble but to dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner .
