Punjab Desk: Farmers can now easily book stubble handling machines through their mobile phones from the comfort of their homes. The Unnat Kisan mobile app run by the Punjab government provides information to farmers about availability of crop residue management machineries (CRM) and agricultural practices.
Deputy Commissioner Barnala Shri T Benith informed the farmers that Unnat Kisan app can be downloaded from Google Play Store. Through this digital initiative of the Punjab government, farmers can book CRM from their mobile phones while sitting at home. He said that each machine is geo-tagged according to the area of cultivable land, which facilitates monitoring and documentation of crop residue management activities.
He added that this app also has Village Level Facilitators (VLFs) and Cluster Officers (COs) on board who monitor the activities besides providing support to the farmers at the ground level. It also provides facility to private owners of machineries to register their agricultural implements so that other farmers can used it. He said that the app has a real-time dashboard that enables accurate monitoring of machine usage and activities of field officers. This ensures accountability, prompt resolution of problems and optimal resources and is beneficial to farmers during the critical harvest period.
He said that through the app, easy booking can be done from nearby custom hiring centers and private machine owners. It provides a scientific alternative to paddy stubble management.
