Health Desk: On the directions of Civil Surgeon Dr. Rohit Goyal and Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Arpit Gupta, the District Health Department has started a special awareness campaign to make people aware of dengue fever. Under this campaign, health officials went to various markets , residential areas and streets of the city and informed the people about the prevention of dengue. Nodal Officer Dr. Ankush Kamboj and the team visited shops and houses in Gadhi Nagar, Old Abohar Adda .
He said that dengue is a mosquito-borne disease that breeds in clean water. He said that people should not let water stagnate around their houses, nor should water collect in coolers , tanks and old tyres. The health teams also distributed pamphlets to shopkeepers and buyers and explained the ways to prevent dengue.
On this occasion, the Health Department also alerted the public through miking that if anyone complains of high fever, headache or joint pain, they should immediately get checked at the nearest government hospital number 21.
He said that maintaining cleanliness in the markets is everyone’s responsibility. If all people cooperate, dengue can be completely controlled. The Health Department will extend this campaign to other villages and wards in the coming weeks so that the message reaches every citizen that cleanliness and caution are the best ways to prevent dengue.
