Electricity workers take to the streets against the Punjab government’s land acquisition and the central government’s Electricity Bill-2025

Punjab Desk:  The Punjab government staged a protest demonstration against the land and the central government’s Electricity Bill-2025, which was chaired by Ferozepur Circle President Ramandeep Singh Lahoria. The Electricity Employees’ Struggle Front included a Technical Service Union, Head Office Joint Action Committee, Employee Struggle Union Power Work and Trask Punjab, Grid Sub Station Technical and Clerical Employees Union Punjab (Bhardwaj), PSE Account Audit and Administrative Association, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Employees Welfare Federation, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and PTS Employees’ Union, supporting this protest. The Council of Junior Engineers and Engineers Association jointly protested in front of all circle offices of Punjab against the sale of electricity department lands by the Punjab government and the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 being brought by the central government.
On this occasion, all the leaders issued a warning to the Punjab government that if both the decisions that are against Punjab and against employees are not withdrawn immediately, then the electricity workers of the entire Punjab will start a fierce struggle, for which the entire responsibility will be on the Punjab Government Power Works and Transmission Corporation Management. After the protest, the organizations gave a memorandum in the name of the Chief Minister of Punjab and also announced that if the above demands are not accepted, then a protest march will be held on 8/11/25 at the Vidhan Sabha constituency of Tarn Taran.
In this protest, besides others, Sarv Shri Manjit Singh State Secretary, Singar Chand, Kulwant Singh, Avtar Singh, Tarsem Kumar, Gurdev Singh and other circle level and sub division level representatives addressed. Apart from this, Retirement Association President Shri Rakesh Sharma, Surinder Sharma, Channan Singh, Sham Singh etc. and leaders of JE Consul Engineers Association also addressed.
