Fazilka,17 JUNE 2025 FACT RECORDER
Health Desk: An awareness camp was organized in Jandwala Kharta to prevent malaria fever under the guidance of Dr. Raj Kumar, Civil Surgeon Fazilka, and Dr. Sunita Camboj, District Epidemiologist. The camp was held under the leadership of Dr. Pankaj Chauhan, Senior Medical Officer at CHC Dabbwala Kalan, and supervision of Vijay Kumar, Multipurpose Health Supervisor.
During the camp, detailed information was provided about the symptoms and treatment of malaria fever.
Pardeep Kumar, a multipurpose health worker, addressed the public and emphasized that any fever could potentially be malaria. He informed that treatment for malaria is available free of cost at government hospitals.
During the event, Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) for malaria were conducted on patients suspected of having a fever. He advised that people should regularly clean the surroundings of their homes and ensure that no stagnant water is left uncovered, as it becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes. To prevent mosquito breeding in drains and ponds, kerosene oil should be poured.
He further advised that extra junk items should be stored under a roof, and no scrap should be left open in the courtyard. Items like coolers, refrigerator trays, and flower pots should be cleaned once a week. To protect against mosquitoes, people should wear full-sleeved clothing, use mosquito nets, and apply mosquito repellent creams at night.
Water containers should always be kept covered, and they must be cleaned once a week. The event was attended by CHO Sunita Rani, ANM Geeta Rani, ASHA workers, and village residents.
