Health Desk: Eligible beneficiaries to be vaccinated by health workers, ensuring no child is left behind Acting upon the directions received from Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai, under whose leadership the campaign is being conducted, informed that during the Special Immunization Week in all blocks of the district, the sessions held by health workers were inspected by District Immunization Officer Dr. Varinder Pal Kaur.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai stated that under the Special Immunization Week, which commenced on August 18, vaccination sessions are being organized in various villages to immunize eligible children and pregnant women. He added that the main objective of observing the Special Immunization Week is to ensure vaccination of all eligible children and pregnant women so that no one is left unvaccinated.
Dr. Rai further mentioned that during this week, special monitoring of Measles-Rubella and Pentavalent vaccinations in different blocks will be carried out by SMOs, with the aim of achieving 100 percent targets of the immunization program.
District Immunization Officer Dr. Varinder Pal Kaur informed that maximum awareness is being spread by health workers about the Special Immunization Week so that the set goals of vaccination can be achieved.
Dr. Kaur further shared that during this campaign, children up to 5 years of age, pregnant women, children up to 2 years, as well as children aged 10 and 16 years will be administered the required doses, including the TD vaccine. She added that during the week, health workers are also reaching out to high-risk population areas such as slums, brick kilns, and roadside settlements to ensure vaccination of children and pregnant women.
On this occasion, District Epidemiologist Dr. Raghav Gupta, Dr. Avleen Kaur, District Mass Media Officer Mr. Sukhwant Singh Sidhu, Health Supervisor Bhupinder Singh, among others, were also present.
