Punjab Government Continues Efforts to Connect Youth with Dairy Farming

Punjab Desk: The Punjab Government is continuously working towards connecting the youth with dairy farming as a means of employment and livelihood. A special training program has been arranged for rural unemployed boys and girls of border district Gurdaspur who are interested in starting a dairy business. Interested youth can submit their applications for the Dairy Training Course at the office of the Deputy Director Dairy, Room No. 508, Block-B, 4th Floor, District Administrative Complex, Gurdaspur by July 7, 2025.

Providing details, the Deputy Director Dairy, Gurdaspur, informed that in order to bring diversification in agriculture and to enhance farmers’ income, a two-week dairy training course will be conducted at the Dairy Training and Extension Center, Verka (District Amritsar) starting from July 7, 2025.

Unemployed youth (both boys and girls) belonging to the rural areas of district Gurdaspur, who are at least 5th pass and between the ages of 18 to 55 years, are eligible to participate in the training.

The official further informed that after the training, the Dairy Development Department will assist the trained youth in availing loans from various banks to set up dairy units consisting of 2 to 20 animals. A subsidy of 25% for the general category and 33% for SC category beneficiaries will be provided.

Interested candidates can visit the office of the Deputy Director Dairy, Gurdaspur, along with their original educational certificates, passport-size photographs, and Aadhaar card to fill out the application form.
