Office of the District Public Relations Officer, Faridkot                                                      Strict Restrictions Imposed in Faridkot District: Ban on Carrying Weapons Hidden in Boxes, Triple Riding, Tents for Programs, and More

Punjab Desk: District Magistrate of Faridkot, Ms. Poonamdeep Kaur, IAS, has exercised powers granted under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, to impose several restrictions within the district of Faridkot. These orders will remain in effect until August 16, 2025.

Ban on Using Tents for Programs in Public Places Without Permission
According to the orders, setting up tents in streets or localities for religious or celebratory events in public places without the permission of the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) is strictly prohibited. No religious functions, rallies, or gatherings may be organized in public areas using shamianas (tents) without written approval.

Prohibition on Gatherings of Five or More People
To maintain public peace and order, gatherings of five or more people in public or government places for meetings, slogan shouting, rallies, protests, or demonstrations are banned. However, in special circumstances, permission for such activities may be granted by the concerned SDM upon receiving a written request. These orders are not applicable to police, home guards, army/paramilitary forces on duty, or peaceful wedding processions.

Ban on Use of Domestic Gas Cylinders in Commercial Establishments
Restaurant, dhaba, and tea stall owners are prohibited from using domestic LPG cylinders at commercial premises. This restriction is effective until August 16, 2025.

Triple Riding, Underage Driving, and Modified Vehicle Equipment Banned
The District Magistrate has banned:

Triple riding (except with children) on two-wheelers

Use of two-wheelers by individuals under 18 years of age

Vehicles without number plates

Use of modified horns producing unusual sounds

Removal of silencers and use of loud, disturbing exhaust systems

All of these restrictions will remain in force until August 16, 2025.

Ban on Concealing and Displaying Weapons
To maintain law and order, complete prohibition is imposed on:

Carrying or displaying licensed weapons within the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, SSP Office, SDMs’ offices, and judicial complexes

Public places such as marriage palaces, hotels, roadside eateries, hospitals, religious places, and crowded areas

Additionally:

Licensed weapon holders are prohibited from concealing firearms in boxes

If carrying weapons, they must be visibly worn in a belt holster or proper cover, so that illegal concealed weapons can be easily identified and action taken

Also, carrying naked swords, spears, or any sharp-edged weapons is strictly banned. These orders will also remain in effect until August 16, 2025.
