Faridkot, October 6 ,2025 Fact Recorder

Punjab Desk:  Deputy Commissioner Madam Poonamdeep Kaur informed that the government procurement of paddy in the district is continuing smoothly. Till last evening, 10,717 metric tonnes of paddy had been purchased by various procurement agencies. She added that the lifting of the purchased paddy is also progressing regularly.

She appealed to the farmers to bring only completely dry paddy to the mandis so that they do not face any inconvenience. She further mentioned that due to recent rainfall, the moisture content in the paddy may increase, but it should not exceed 17 percent at the time of harvesting.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that by last evening, 13,096 metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in various mandis of the district, out of which 10,717 metric tonnes had been procured by different agencies. These include PUNGRAIN (4,922 MT), MARKFED (2,980 MT), PUNSUP (1,695 MT), Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (922 MT), and private traders (198 MT). The lifting of the purchased paddy is also being carried out continuously. She added that farmers have already been paid ₹16.99 crore through online transactions for their produce.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to farmers to strictly follow the fixed schedule for harvesting — from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. She also urged farmers to mix the remaining stubble back into the soil after harvesting instead of burning it. She warned that farmers found burning stubble will face penalties, while those who refrain from burning it will be honored and recognized by the administration.
