Request for cooperation in special screening campaign for non-communicable diseases

Under the directions of Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab Dr. Balbir Singh, today a meeting was held with representatives of various rural health, hygiene and food committees at Block Mahal Kalan by Civil Surgeon Dr. Baldev Singh Sandhu and District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Parvesh Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Civil Surgeon said that a special screening campaign is being run till March 31 for the identification and prevention of non-communicable diseases.
He said that the main objective of this campaign is to identify non-communicable diseases among the people by conducting special screening and initiating treatment, thereby reducing the increasing rate of diseases and the number of deaths. He said that during this campaign, screening of people above the age of 30 for non-communicable diseases including hypertension and diabetes is being done.
He said that the rate of non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, cancer and heart diseases is increasing rapidly in Punjab. Therefore, the government has decided to start this screening in the entire state. This screening campaign will make people aware about their health and they will get access to specialized health services. He also asked the representatives of the Rural Health Hygiene and Food Committees to extend maximum cooperation to the Health Department in this campaign.
On this occasion, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Parvesh Kumar said that the screening campaign for non-communicable diseases will be carried out in urban and rural areas through health camps, health institutions and door-to-door visits. He said that medical teams have been prepared for this process and they have also been trained. If these diseases can be identified on time through this screening campaign, then their treatment and prevention can be possible. He appealed to the committee members to join this campaign and cooperate.
On this occasion, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Gurtejinder Kaur, Block Educator Shivani, SI Madan, LHV Balwinder Kaur and other officers and employees were also present.
