Health Desk: Additional Deputy Commissioner holds meeting with District Task Force for dengue prevention The Health Department should further intensify the activities being done to stop the spread of dengue in Fazilka. This was stated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mandeep Kaur while presiding over the meeting of the task force set up for dengue prevention at the District Administrative Complex. On this occasion, SDM Jalalabad Kanwarjit Singh Mann , SDM Abohar Krishna Pal Rajput , Civil Surgeon Dr. Rohit Goyal , Dr. Rinku Chawla District Vaccination Officer and District Epidemiologist Dr. Sunita Kamboj were also present.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner asked the Health Department and the Municipal Council to coordinate with each other to conduct fogging in urban and rural areas. If dengue cases are reported in more areas, then that area should be given attention and people should be made aware about it. He instructed the Health Department employees to not allow any kind of water to stagnate in residential areas and around buildings under construction.
Dr. Mandeep Kaur further said that in the houses where dengue mosquito larvae are found , challans should be issued. In those villages, in collaboration with the concerned Sarpanches and Panchayats,
And in cities, with the help of MCs, fogging should be done and larvae should be found. He asked the Municipal Council to take special care of the cleanliness of the streets/drainages and to spread awareness among the people about the measures to maintain cleanliness and prevent the spread of dengue. He appealed to the district residents to cooperate with the district administration and the health department to prevent the spread of dengue and people should maintain cleanliness in their homes , keep the refrigerator trays clean , and not let water accumulate in open pots.
He said that the health department and the municipal council should not only conduct fogging to prevent dengue, but also make people aware about vector-borne and water-borne diseases by organizing public meetings. He appealed to the people not to let water accumulate anywhere in their homes for more than a week. Apart from this, water should not accumulate in junk shops and junk items.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Rohit Goyal And District Epidemiologist Dr. Sunita Kamboj said that to prevent the spread of dengue, continuous checks are being carried out by the teams of the health department and if water is seen accumulating in the refrigerators of people’s houses, then along with cleaning it, the larvae are also checked and people are also made aware about dengue disease. He said that dengue is a mosquito that bites only during the day and it breeds on clean water, so all people should not let clean water stand inside or near their houses. He said that the symptoms of dengue are high fever , headache , pain behind the eyes , pain in muscles and joints , nausea , vomiting , feeling tired , rashes on the skin and if the condition worsens, bleeding from the nose , mouth and gums. If these symptoms appear, then get medical treatment immediately, which is done free of cost in government health institutions.
