Punjab Desk: District Tarn Taran Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai while issuing an advisory on air pollution said that due to the impact of weather changes on air quality, there is a fear of increasing air pollution. Due to such conditions created in the environment, the number of patients suffering from respiratory, asthma, rhinitis, cold, cough and chest diseases starts increasing. While issuing the advisory of the Health Department, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai appealed to the people to avoid air pollution.
He said that burning of crop residues has a very bad impact on the environment and human health. He said that air pollution becomes very harmful especially for children, pregnant women, elderly people and patients suffering from respiratory diseases for a long time. The Civil Surgeon said that due to bad weather and severe air pollution, a person should avoid morning and evening walks. Apart from this, he said that if a person has any kind of respiratory problem, then he should also avoid running fast or doing strenuous physical activities.
He further said that keeping in mind the increased air pollution, we should not open the doors and windows of our houses unnecessarily. Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai said that if a person experiences difficulty in breathing, cough, chest discomfort or pain, dizziness, burning or redness in the eyes, then in such situations, one should immediately go to the nearest health center and get himself examined by a specialist doctor.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai said that to avoid the effects of air pollution we should take very good care of our diet. He said that we should consume seasonal vegetables and fruits and also drink enough water. He said that we should avoid smoking tobacco or other related tobacco products.
He said that for the cleanliness of the environment, we should plant more and more trees and also be responsible for the cleanliness of our surroundings. On this occasion, District Epidemiologist Dr. Raghav Gupta and District Mass Media Officer Sukhwant Singh Sidhu were also present.
