Punjab Desk:  Punjab’s Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains today launched the campaign “Let’s Clean Our Village Government Schools” from Government Senior Secondary School, Sarsa Nangal. He appealed to everyone to extend maximum support to this initiative.

The minister said that due to recent floods, nearly 20,000 government schools in Punjab had been closed. These schools were reopened today for cleaning, and from September 9, students will return to attend classes. To ensure proper hygiene and safety, a special campaign has been initiated under which cleanliness drives are being carried out in government schools across different areas.

He further urged his fellow MLAs, village panchayats, sarpanches, youth clubs, youngsters, and school management committee members to actively participate in this cleanliness campaign. He added that since the schools remained closed for several days, they require thorough cleaning. Issues like drainage of water, drinking water availability, and garbage disposal must be resolved immediately.

The minister also emphasized that if any building seems unsafe, it must be reported without delay to the Deputy Commissioner, SDM, or the engineering wing, as the safety of teachers and students is the government’s top priority.

On this occasion, Jujhar Singh Aspur (Member, Saini Welfare Board Punjab), Jagmeet Kaur (School Incharge), Harvinder Kaur (Block President), Sohan Singh, Sita Ram, Mohan Singh (Sarpanch), Navpreet Singh, Gurmail Singh (Numberdar), Harbhajan Singh, Avtar Singh, and a large number of dignitaries were present.
