Health Desk: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is set to open 200 additional Aam Aadmi Clinics across the state to provide quality healthcare services to the people. This initiative aims to ensure that residents do not have to travel far for medical treatment. The state government’s decision is expected to be a significant milestone in the ongoing health revolution.
Punjab Health Systems Corporation Chairman Mr. Raman Bahil stated that the Aam Aadmi Clinic has proven to be the country’s most successful health model, offering completely free treatment to patients. He informed that soon 200 more clinics will become operational, increasing the total number of such clinics in the state to 1081.
Mr. Bahil explained that currently, 565 Aam Aadmi Clinics operate in rural areas, while 316 clinics are located in urban regions. Around 70,000 patients visit these clinics daily, indicating growing public trust in the government healthcare system. He added that most patients visiting these clinics are women, followed by senior citizens, as they receive quality free treatment close to their homes.
Highlighting a new development in healthcare services, Mr. Bahil announced the integration of Aam Aadmi Clinics with a WhatsApp chatbot. Patients can now view their prescriptions, test reports, and doctor’s follow-up appointment dates on their mobile phones anytime. He said this initiative will bring revolutionary changes to healthcare services. Since about 90% of Punjabis own smartphones, direct access via WhatsApp will be easily available.
Speaking about the benefits of the WhatsApp chatbot for common people, Mr. Bahil mentioned that besides timely reminders about medicines, test reports, and doctor appointments, patients will receive continuous information on managing health conditions such as diabetes and blood pressure. Additionally, pregnant women, newborn babies, and elderly patients will get care-related updates via WhatsApp. This system eliminates the need for patients to keep physical prescriptions and allows them to access information whenever they want through WhatsApp.
