Haryana Desk: Tragic Road Accident on Karnal Highway: Luxury Bus Collides with Parked Canter, Driver Killed, Several Passengers Injured

A severe road accident occurred early Thursday morning near Uchana village on the National Highway in Karnal district. A private luxury bus traveling from Gurugram to Chandigarh crashed into a stationary canter truck near JhilMil Dhaba. The impact was so intense that the front portion of the bus got embedded into the canter, resulting in the on-spot death of the bus driver and injuries to several passengers.

Accident Occurred Around 5 AM
The collision took place around 5:00 AM when the bus was carrying a large number of passengers. Following the crash, panic and chaos erupted inside the bus. Locals immediately alerted the police and emergency services.

Passengers Rescued by Breaking Windows
According to the police, the collision was extremely forceful, requiring emergency responders to break the windows to rescue trapped passengers. A hydra crane was used to separate the bus from the canter, after which the driver’s body could be recovered. His identity has not yet been confirmed. The body has been sent to Karnal Civil Hospital for postmortem.

Injured Being Treated
The injured passengers were rushed to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, where they are currently receiving treatment. Some passengers have sustained serious injuries, but their condition is reported to be stable.

Police Investigation Underway
Sadar police station officials have launched an investigation at the scene. Preliminary findings suggest the accident occurred because the canter was parked on the highway. Police are examining nearby CCTV footage and recording eyewitness statements to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Passengers Sent to Chandigarh
After the incident, the remaining passengers were transferred to another bus and sent onward to Chandigarh. Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress to establish full details of the accident.
