Core Sector Growth Hits 9-Month Low; UCO Bank Wins Digital Innovation Award

Business Desk: Core Sector Growth Slows to 0.7% in May; UCO Bank Wins Digital   Innovation Award, Tata Motors’ Shubhranshu Singh Named Among Forbes’ Most Influential  CMOs                                                                                                            India’s eight core industries recorded a growth of just 0.7% in May 2025 — the lowest in the past nine months. The slowdown was primarily driven by weak performance in crude oil, natural gas, fertilizers, and electricity. In comparison, the core sector grew by 6.9% in May 2024. The last time growth dipped this low was in August 2024, when output had declined by 1.5%.

For the first two months of the current fiscal year 2025–26, the average growth across these eight sectors has been 0.8%.
