Chandigarh, 14 JUNE 2025 FACT RECORDER
Haryana Desk: Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Nayab Singh Saini will inaugurate the newly constructed state-of-the-art jail complex today at 10:00 AM in Fidheri village of Rewari district. The complex has been built at a cost of ₹95 crore and spans an area of approximately 50 acres.
Dr. Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Home, Jails, Criminal Investigation, and Justice Administration, stated that the new jail complex will address the long-standing shortage of prison infrastructure in Rewari. Until now, the district had only a small jail with a capacity of 65 inmates, due to which over 700 inmates had to be transferred to facilities in Gurugram, Narnaul, and Jhajjar.
The new jail has been designed to accommodate approximately 1,000 inmates, marking a significant increase in capacity and reducing logistical challenges in prisoner management in the region.
Dr. Mishra further informed that a high-security prison for inmates involved in serious crimes is in the final stages of construction in Rohtak, and a modern training academy for prison staff has recently been established in Karnal to enhance professional standards in prison administration across the state.
