The Saras Mela, set up in the gardens of Sheesh Mahal in Patiala, is showcasing the rich craftsmanship and culture of India. The fair, organized by the district administration, is also providing a platform for students to display their talents. Under the leadership of the Nodal Officer of Saras Mela, ADC Anuprita Johal, a Rangoli competition was held for students on the themes “Colorful Punjab” and “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.”
The Additional Deputy Commissioner mentioned that cultural, folk art, and painting competitions are being organized daily at the fair, dedicated to celebrating India’s rich heritage. He invited the people of Patiala to enjoy the fair after many years, where they can purchase items made by artisans from across the country and also enjoy various folk dances from different states.
Cultural program coordinators Pro Gurbakshish Singh Antal and District Child Development and Welfare Officer Shaina Kapoor shared that 145 students from 21 schools and colleges participated in today’s Rangoli competition. In the college category, the first prize was awarded to Government ITI Girls Patiala, and in the school category, Alliance International Public School Banur won the first place. DAV Global School and Government High School Patiala Cantt secured second place, while the third position went to Senior Secondary Kanya School Sanour.
The winning students were awarded medals by the Mela Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner.
