Mandi (HP), June 1: A student of a government college in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district was found hanging in his hostel room, with police recovering a suicide note in which he blamed a female classmate for his extreme step, officials said on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Saturday at Jawahar Lal Nehru Engineering College, Sundernagar. Arpit Sharma, a fourth-semester Computer Science student, did not respond when fellow students knocked on his door. When they broke it open, they found him hanging from a belt inside the room.
A suicide note recovered from the room revealed that Sharma took the drastic step due to an ongoing affair. Based on the contents of the note, a second-semester female student from the same college has been arrested on charges of abetment to s*uicide.
