No political advertisement should be placed in electronic media, social media, bulk SMS, e-paper without prior approval of MCMC – Pushpa Satyani

Punjab Desk: General Observer Mrs. Pushpa Satyani, IAS, deputed by Election Commission for 021-Tarn Taran bye-election has visited Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) Cell Tarn Taran today. On this occasion, she also got information about the efforts being made by MCMC Cell to stop paid news, besides getting information about political advertising in print, electronic and social media, pre-certification. On this occasion, she expressed his satisfaction over the performance of Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) Cell, Tarn Taran.
General Observer Mrs. Pushpa Satyani said that in view of the bye-election of Vidhan Sabha Constituency 021-Tarn Taran, the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee formed at the district level is keeping a close watch on print, electronic and social media for 24 hours under the instructions of the Honorable Election Commission. She said that all the news related to the elections should be read carefully so that paid news and fake news can be stopped.
The General Observer, Pushpa Satyeni said that no political advertisement can be issued by political parties and candidates during their election campaign through bulk SMS and voice messages, electronic media TV and cable channels, audio-visual political campaigns in public places, internet and social media, radio, e-paper, cinema halls without the prior approval of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee. Similarly, no political advertisement can be published in the print media on the day of polling and a day before polling day without the approval of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee.
She appealed to the candidates contesting the elections to strictly follow the instructions of the Election Commission and not to place any political advertisement in electronic media, social media, bulk SMS, e-paper without the prior approval of the MCMC.
On this occasion, Member Secretary of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) Cell, DPRO Inderjeet Singh, MCMC Team members Naveen Kalia, Ajit Pal Singh, Surinderpal Singh, Inderjit Singh, Jatinderpal Singh, Rajinderpal Singh, Balraj Singh, Sukhmander Singh, Imran Shah, Ajaypal Singh, Kuldeepak Singh, Rajinder Kaur, Arshpreet Singh and Amit Kumar were also present.
