BJP Gears Up for Battle to Return to Power: Sandeep Upadhyay

04 July 2025 FACT RECORDER

Himachal Desk: Rajeev Bindal, known as a master of political management in Himachal Pradesh, has once again been appointed as the BJP state president. With this decision, it’s now certain that Bindal will lead the party into the next assembly elections. BJP’s entire election strategy will revolve around his leadership and planning. As he assumes the role for the third time, Bindal has taken an aggressive stance against the current Congress government, signaling the beginning of the BJP’s fight to reclaim power — from the Assembly to the streets.

One of the key issues the party plans to raise is the unfulfilled guarantees made by the Congress to the people. By targeting these promises, BJP leaders hope to strengthen their path to victory.

The race for the state president’s post had been ongoing within the BJP for some time. Several senior leaders were being considered. Eventually, when nominations opened, only one name was submitted — Rajeev Bindal. It’s evident that this choice was made after intense deliberation with state leaders and was approved by the central leadership. The decision to reappoint Bindal seems aimed at keeping the party united and focused, especially as it transitions into election mode. With Congress having completed half its term, the BJP is now expected to take to the ground with agitations and public campaigns.

Had any other name been chosen from among the contenders, it might have led to factionalism. Bindal’s reappointment is seen as a strategic move to maintain unity. His coronation was marked by the presence of central ministers and senior BJP figures including Anurag Thakur, Jairam Thakur, MPs, and MLAs, reflecting a show of solidarity.

With the new appointment, Rajeev Bindal is now expected to form the party’s working committee, ensuring representation from all regions and balancing various leaders’ interests. He plans to strengthen the party from the grassroots, focusing on every booth.

Bindal’s Targets: Retaining Lead in 61 Assembly Segments from Lok Sabha Elections
After assuming the role for a third time, Dr. Rajeev Bindal has set his sights on bringing BJP back to power. He declared that the next two years would be challenging, and he is committed to working 24/7. He emphasized the goal of uprooting the corrupt and deceitful Congress government and ensuring a strong BJP administration.

Bindal outlined key goals including:

Winning all Lok Sabha seats from the state

Maintaining the lead in 61 out of 68 Assembly constituencies

Expanding active membership to 47,000

Increasing mandals from 74 to 171

Establishing 11-member committees in 7,775 of the 8,009 booths

Launching anti-government campaigns up to the mandal level

These initiatives, he said, will be hallmarks of his tenure.

Congress Won’t Win Even 8 Seats if Elections Are Held Today: Anurag Thakur
Former Union Minister and MP Anurag Thakur expressed confidence that Bindal’s appointment will energize the party. He boldly claimed that if elections were held today, the Congress wouldn’t win even 8 seats out of 68, and the BJP would bloom across Himachal.

“We Will Forfeit Congress’ Deposits Booth by Booth”: Srikant Sharma
BJP’s Himachal in-charge Srikant Sharma remarked that the state’s organization is stronger than ever. He noted that the number of primary members has risen from 8 lakh to 18 lakh. Committed to the “Developed India” vision, he said the party will work with the goal of “My Booth, Strongest Booth” and invest maximum effort at the grassroots level.
