Punjab Desk: The cleanliness drive in Nangal city under the ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ being run by the Punjab government with the aim of making the cities and towns of the state clean, beautiful and better is continuing. On the fifth day of the campaign, Local Government Minister Harjot Singh Bains personally reached Ward No. 12 today and reviewed the cleanliness work. He participated in the cleanliness work along with the sanitation workers, municipal council employees and local people. The Local Government Minister said that the city cannot be made completely clean only with the efforts of government departments, but the participation of every citizen is also very important for this. He said that our joint effort is to develop Nangal as a clean and beautiful city again.
The Local Government Minister said that ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ is not just a few days of cleanliness campaign, but an effort to create awareness and sense of responsibility among the people towards cleanliness of the cities. He said that Nangal is an important industrial and historical city as well as full of natural beauty, so it is the responsibility of all of us to maintain its cleanliness and beauty. He appealed to the people not to throw garbage from their houses and shops on the roads, streets or vacant lots and to cooperate in the cleanliness management of the Municipal Council by keeping wet and dry garbage separately. He said that if people make cleanliness a part of their daily life, then the city can be kept clean for a long time.
While inspecting the cleanliness work in Ward No. 12, Harjot Singh Bains gave necessary instructions to the officers to make the overall system of the city more strong and effective. He reviewed the arrangements for garbage collection from streets, roads, public places and other places, cleaning of drains and immediate removal of garbage heaps. He told the officers that no laxity in the cleanliness system will be tolerated and regular cleanliness should be ensured in every ward of the city. He said that providing necessary resources and facilities to the sanitation workers is also a priority of the government. The Cabinet Minister asked the officers to immediately resolve the problems being brought to the fore by the people and continuously monitor the cleanliness system at the ground level.
Harjot Singh Bains said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously making efforts to make every city and town of the state clean, beautiful and better. He said that a clean environment not only enhances the beauty of the city, but also has a direct impact on the health and standard of living of the people. He said that the support received from the people for the cleanliness drive that has been going on in Nangal for the last five days is commendable and this support should continue in the future as well. He said that along with the efforts being made by the government to keep the cities clean, only the awareness and responsible role of the people can give lasting success to this drive.
The Local Bodies Minister said that to make Nangal ‘clean’ and beautiful again, government departments, municipal council, sanitation workers, traders, social and religious organizations and the common people will have to work together. He said that this campaign launched under ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ will further strengthen the spirit of keeping their city clean among the people. He appealed to the people not to consider the cleanliness campaign as the responsibility of the government alone, but to come forward considering it as their common duty. He said that with joint efforts, the goal of making Nangal a clean, beautiful, organized and good city can definitely be achieved.
