Sunam Udham Singh Wala, September 26 (000) – In response to the cases of fever and suspected chikungunya in Sunam, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora conducted a virtual meeting via video conference with Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, health officials, and district administration to review the situation and ensure immediate action.

The meeting was attended by Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, Health Secretary Kumar Rahul, Director Local Government Kulwant Singh, Director Health Dr. Hitender Kaur, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Amit Bambi, Chief Medical Officer Sangrur Dr. Amarjit Kaur, District Epidemiologist Dr. Upasna, SDM Sunam Parmod Singla, SMO In-charge Sunam Dr. Amit Singla, Dr. Rahul Gupta (MD Medicine), Dr. Himanshu (MD Medicine), Dr. Indermanjot Singh (MD Pediatrics), Dr. Prabhjot Singh (Nodal Officer), and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora’s Media Coordinator Jatinder Jain, along with other officials from the Health, Civil, and Local Government Departments.

During the meeting, Aman Arora emphasized the urgent need for a proactive and multi-departmental approach to address the health situation in Sunam. He directed the Health Department to intensify surveillance and ward-level fever surveys, ensure 24/7 availability of medicines, diagnostic kits, and manpower in hospitals, and launch extensive community-level awareness campaigns to educate the public on disease prevention and timely treatment.

Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh assured full cooperation from the Health Department and highlighted the importance of early detection and timely treatment. He informed that a comprehensive plan has been prepared to curb the spread of seasonal diseases, with ground-level implementation already underway. He expressed confidence that the situation in Sunam would soon be fully under control, noting that such cases have started to decline.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Bambi reported that extensive fogging operations are ongoing in Sunam, alongside sanitation and vector control campaigns on a large scale.

Cabinet Minister Aman Arora reiterated that all departments must work in close coordination, and officials should remain vigilant to safeguard public health. He assured that the Punjab Government is fully committed to public service and is leaving no stone unturned to address this challenge. He also urged residents to remain cautious of rumors related to the situation.

The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which responsibilities were clearly assigned to all concerned parties to ensure timely and effective implementation of preventive and treatment measures.

Aman Arora further reassured the people of Sunam that the Punjab Government stands firmly with them during this crisis and is taking every possible step to bring the situation under control. He also assigned his Media Coordinator, Jatinder Jain, the responsibility of coordinating with all departments and personally monitoring the situation.
