Punjab Desk: On the occasion of Independence Day, the district-level celebration will be held on August 15 at Zakir Hussain Stadium, Malerkotla, where Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tidke will hoist the National Flag.
This information was given by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu after reviewing today’s full dress rehearsal of the district-level function. Present on the occasion were SSP Gagan Ajit Singh, SDM Gurmeet Kumar Bansal, District Revenue Officer Mandeep Kaur, SP Gursharanjit Singh, DSP Satish Kumar, Executive Officer (MC) Apar Apar Singh, Executive Officer Nagar Improvement Trust Neeru, Tehsildar Ritu Gupta, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Sajeela Khan, SDO Eng. Balwinder Singh, SDO Eng. Manpreet Singh, along with officers from various departments.
During today’s full dress rehearsal, after hoisting the National Flag, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the parade. Under the leadership of Parade Commander DSP Dr. Manavjit Singh, contingents from the district police, district women police, Punjab Home Guards, NCC wing of Government College Malerkotla, the band of Sohrab Public School, and the band prepared by Punjab Police presented a salute. Students from various schools also presented a grand mass PT show, cultural performances, and patriotic programs. The patriotic spirit reflected in the students’ cultural presentations was widely appreciated.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner informed that during the Independence Day function, Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tidke will also honor freedom fighters, officers, employees with outstanding performance from various departments, and organizations that have made special contributions to social activities. He appealed to the residents of the district to participate enthusiastically in the district-level Independence Day celebrations. He added that it is a matter of great pride that the country has completed 78 years of independence.
Meanwhile, SSP Gagan Ajit Singh informed that adequate security and traffic arrangements have been made for the Independence Day celebrations to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience. On the occasion of the full dress rehearsal, the Deputy Commissioner also administered an oath to the youth under the Drug-Free Campaign to eradicate drugs.
