Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Expresses Willingness for Peace Talks with India During Iran Visit

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed his readiness to hold peace talks with India to resolve key issues including Kashmir, terrorism, water disputes, and trade. Speaking in Tehran during the second leg of his four-nation tour, Sharif emphasized dialogue as the path to peace between the two neighbors.

Arriving from Turkey, Sharif was received by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the Saadabad Palace. At a joint press conference, Sharif stated, “We want to resolve all disputes, including the Kashmir and water issues, through negotiations. We are also ready to discuss trade and counter-terrorism with India.”

During his visit, Sharif and his delegation are scheduled to meet Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to discuss bilateral relations and regional matters of importance.

Earlier, in Turkey, Sharif met President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to review and strengthen bilateral ties. The two leaders agreed to enhance strategic partnership and explore joint ventures, including increased cooperation in defense production.
