6 institutions in Barnala declared green schools in national survey

Will be honored at a national level event on February 4th

The Environmental Education Program under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, through a joint initiative of Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh and Centre for Science Environment, New Delhi, conducted an audit of the Green School Program in all schools in India.

Giving information in this regard, District Coordinator of Green School Program Sukhpal Singh said that the results of the Green School Program audit conducted by the Government of India have come. During the Green School Program audit, the school building was surveyed according to the theme of Mission Life for Lifestyle Environment, saving air, water, land, food and energy. This time, out of 345 schools across India, 196 schools in Punjab were declared green schools.

District Education Officer Barnala Mrs. Malka Rani expressed happiness and informed that improving the rating of last year, 6 schools of Barnala district have been declared green schools at the national level. These include Government High School Nangal, Government Senior Secondary School Ghunnas, Government Senior Secondary School Mom, Government Senior Secondary School Thikriwala Munde, Government Primary School Bhaini Mehraj, Government Primary School Chungh. 2 primary, 1 high and 3 senior secondary schools in Barnala district have received this award.
On this excellent performance of District Barnala, District Education Officer Secondary Mrs. Malka Rani, Deputy District Education Officer Secondary Dr. Barjinderpal Singh and District Education Officer Elementary Mrs. Indu Simak, Deputy District Education Officer Elementary Mrs. Neerja appreciated the Green School Program team of District Barnala and congratulated the hardworking Green School Nodal Teachers of the selected Green Schools. They said that the selected schools are being honored by the Government of India at the Green School Program Carnival and Prize Distribution Ceremony on 4th February 2025 in New Delhi.
