Sports Desk: Vaibhav Suryavanshi Poised to Win Big at IPL 2025? Final Verdict Awaited During IPL 2025, no young talent grabbed more attention than Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year- old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The teenager has now emerged as one of the strongest contenders for the IPL Emerging Player Award, a prestigious recognition for up-and-coming stars.
A Season to Remember
Born on 27 March 2011 in Tajpur village, Samastipur district of Bihar, Vaibhav created history this season with his explosive performances. At just 14 years old, he became the youngest-ever player to debut in the IPL and also set a world record for the youngest T20 centurion.
He made his debut on 19 April 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur, smashing a six off his very first ball. Just nine days later, on 28 April, Vaibhav lit up the stage with a breathtaking 101-run knock off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, featuring 11 sixes and 7 fours. His century came off just 35 deliveries, making it the second-fastest IPL hundred after Chris Gayle’s 30-ball ton and the fastest-ever by an Indian in the tournament.
With such performances, Vaibhav quickly became a fan favorite and a viral sensation on social media. Over the season, he scored 252 runs in 7 innings with a strike rate of 206.55, including a century and a half-century.
Strong Contender for the Emerging Player Award
The IPL Emerging Player Award is presented to young cricketers who:
-
Were born on or after April 1, 1999
-
Have played no more than 5 Tests or 20 ODIs
-
Have played fewer than 25 IPL matches before the season
-
Have not won the award before
Vaibhav meets all the criteria and has left a strong impression with his fearless batting.
Stiff Competition
However, Vaibhav faces tough competition from Sai Sudharsan, who has also had an outstanding season. Sudharsan scored 759 runs in 15 matches and is a frontrunner for the Orange Cap.
As IPL 2025 heads toward its conclusion, fans eagerly await the final announcement to see whether the teenage prodigy from Bihar will walk away with one of the league’s most coveted titles.
