Chandigarh Desk: Heavy Rains Bring Debris to Sukhna Lake, Boating Suspended Amid Rising Water Levels                                                                                              Chandigarh’s iconic Sukhna Lake, often referred to as the lifeline of the City Beautiful, is currently facing a grim situation. Instead of boats gliding across the water, the lake’s surface is now littered with silt, dry logs, and other debris carried in by rainwater.

Due to heavy rainfall in the surrounding hills, the water level in the lake has suddenly risen, bringing with it a large amount of silt, driftwood, and waste. This has resulted in visible pollution across the lake’s surface.

As a precautionary measure, boating services were suspended on Tuesday. According to lake authorities, the service will remain halted until the debris and sludge are completely removed. Clean-up operations have already begun to restore the lake to its usual state.

Until the cleanup is complete and conditions are deemed safe, visitors will have to wait to enjoy boating at one of Chandigarh’s most beloved landmarks.
