Water Supply Department Conducts Testing of Drinking Water Samples in Flood-Affected Villages

Punjab Desk: As per the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to provide all possible assistance swiftly to flood-affected people, the teams of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department have been deployed in the affected villages of Fazilka under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu.

Executive Engineer Chamka Singla informed that RO systems in the villages are functional and department teams are collecting drinking water samples directly from households for testing in the departmental laboratory. In villages and hamlets facing shortage of drinking water, tankers are being sent to ensure supply. Additionally, water is also being provided for livestock through tankers.

The department teams are also spreading awareness among villagers about identifying clean water and the importance of boiling water before drinking.

He further added that water samples from villages including Mahatam Nagar, Walle Shah Hithar, Teja Ruheila, and Jhangar Bhaini have passed quality checks, while reports from other villages are awaited.
