Punjab Desk: To raise awareness among farmers about stubble management, the Agriculture Department, under the guidance of District Agriculture Officer Dr. Tejbir Singh and Block Agriculture Officer Dr. Malvinder Singh, organized a village-level farmer training camp in the village Warana, Block Naushahra Pannuan, under the C.R.M. Scheme.
Starting the camp, Dr. Sukhvinder Singh, Agriculture Extension Officer, welcomed the attending farmers and provided detailed information about various farmer welfare schemes running under the Agriculture Department. He also explained different methods of stubble management, the machinery available for the purpose, and the subsidies provided by the department on these machines.
He emphasized that farmers were shown in the field how stubble can affect crop cultivation. He explained that burning stubble reduces soil organic matter, destroys nitrogen and sulfur, and decreases soil fertility.
Farmers from Warana, Mr. Jaswant Singh and Mr. Gurinder Singh, appealed to fellow farmers to manage stubble using government schemes and machines instead of burning it. The attending farmers also agreed not to burn stubble. Field workers, including Jagjit Singh, were present on the occasion.
