Punjab Desk:  Chairman Manik Mehta reached the grain market in Wadala Granthiyan and asked the aarthiyans and officials to purchase the crop in a smooth manner.

Batala , October 24 () Under the directions of Punjab Executive President and MLA Shari Kalsi, Manik Mehta , Chairman Market Committee Batala reviewed the paddy procurement process at the Wadala Granthiyan grain market.

He said that under the responsibility given by the Punjab government and MLA Shari Kalsi, today, at the Wadala Grain Market, the Aarthiyas and officials met to review the procurement process during the ongoing paddy and basmati season and strictly instructed the Aarthiyas not to let the farmers face any kind of problem in the grain market.

Chairman Manik Mehta said that the Punjab government has made smooth arrangements in the grain markets keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers and the Punjab government has ensured the procurement, lifting and payment of the crop within the stipulated time.

Chairman Manik Mehta appealed to the farmers to sow wheat by cultivating the crop residue in the field after harvesting the paddy crop using in situ method or use agricultural machinery for stubble management using ex situ method. Instead of burning the stubble, bales should be made.

He appealed to the farmers that paddy should be harvested only when it is fully ripe and only dry paddy should be brought to the markets for sale. He said that the government has fixed the moisture limit in paddy at 17 percent at the time of procurement. He said that if the moisture content of a farmer’s paddy crop is found to be more than 17 percent, then his product cannot be procured , due to which the farmers have to face problems in the market. Therefore, the farmers should bring only dry crop to the markets.
