Under Ashirwad Scheme, ₹80.07 lakh released for 157 beneficiaries from backward and economically weaker sections in Tarn Taran – Deputy Commissioner

Punjab Desk: As part of the Punjab Government’s initiative to uplift Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and minority communities, ₹80.07 lakh has been released for 157 eligible beneficiaries belonging to the backward and economically weaker sections in Tarn Taran district under the Ashirwad Scheme.

Sharing this information, Deputy Commissioner Rahul stated that these funds pertain to cases received under the scheme up to March 2025. The payment will be directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the online management system.

He further added that for the months of April and May 2025, 651 applications related to various eligible categories have been forwarded to the head office. The beneficiaries from these cases will also soon receive financial assistance.

District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Mr. Bikramjeet Singh Purewal explained that under the Ashirwad Scheme, the Punjab Government provides financial assistance of ₹51,000 to eligible beneficiaries. To simplify the process, the government has introduced an online application system through which individuals can apply directly at:

He mentioned that applicants can submit their application from the comfort of their homes, along with all necessary documents. Those seeking benefits under the Ashirwad Scheme can apply one month before or one month after the date of their daughter’s marriage.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to providing timely support to economically weaker sections for important life events such as marriage.
