After cricketer Virat Kohli, actress Tamannaah Bhatia has raised concerns about Instagram seemingly auto-liking posts. The latest incident involves a reel by actress Deepika Padukone. Recently, Kohli claimed that his Instagram account liked a post on its own. Following this, Tamannaah shared a selfie and a message on her Instagram Story, questioning the platform’s behavior. She wrote, “Can Instagram tell us how it auto-likes pages? Because people are making news out of it, and I have work to do.”
Reportedly, Tamannaah’s account had liked a reel by Deepika Padukone. The reel discussed issues such as pay disparity, workplace environment, and misogyny. Her post comes amid an ongoing controversy between Deepika and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga over the film Spirit.
The Controversy Around ‘Spirit’
Sandeep Reddy Vanga had earlier posted a message (without naming anyone), which many linked to Deepika Padukone. His post expressed frustration and labeled certain behavior as “unprofessional.” Deepika was initially a part of Spirit but later exited the project after reportedly demanding reduced shoot hours and making other requests. This led to tensions between her and the director.
Allegations of a Plot Leak
In March 2025, rumors circulated online suggesting that the plot of Spirit had been leaked, with some claiming it resembled the Tamil film Theri. However, there was no confirmation of an actual leak. Following Deepika’s departure, the filmmakers announced that Triptii Dimri would replace her in the film.
Virat Kohli’s Instagram Clarification
Before Tamannaah, Virat Kohli had faced a similar situation when users noticed that his Instagram account had liked a post by actress Avneet Kaur. Kohli then issued a clarification via Instagram Story, stating: “While clearing out my feed, it seems the algorithm accidentally registered an interaction. There was no intent behind it. Please don’t draw assumptions. Thank you for your understanding.”
The repeated incidents have raised questions about whether Instagram is registering unintended likes, or if public figures are being caught in the complexities of algorithm-driven interactions.
