With the aim of providing quality maize seeds to farmers in the district, under the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind and the leadership of Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Dharminderjeet Singh, the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department team conducted a surprise inspection of seed dealers in Khamano Mandi, Bhardi, and Sanghol.
Under the leadership of Block Agriculture Officer Khamano Dr. Jaswinder Singh, the team directed seed dealers to ensure that maize seeds are not sold at prices higher than the prescribed rates and that seeds are not sold without registering additional entries in the license. The team also instructed the seed dealers to maintain a stock register for each type of seed.
Dr. Jaswinder Singh advised all dealers to maintain complete records. He stated that if any dealer is found violating the regulations, action will be taken against them under the Seed Act 1966, Seed Rules 1968, and Seed Control Order 1983.
