Sekhonreviewed the ration distribution process, mid-day meal and storage arrangements

Punjab Desk:  Punjab State Food Commission Member Jasvir Singh Sekhon today visited Malerkotla district and held an important meeting with the administrative officials. During this, he reviewed the ration distribution process, mid-day meal scheme and food storage system in detail and issued clear instructions to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the common people.

Sekhon ordered that the helpline number and contact details of the Punjab State Food Commission be clearly written outside all schools, Anganwadi centres and ration depots in the district, so that people can directly reach out to the commission with their complaints. He said that the public can register their complaints through the website https://psfc.punjab.gov.in or email punjabfoodcommission@gmail.com . Apart from this, the helpline number 98767-64545 can also be contacted.

Sekhon said that it is the responsibility of the administration to fully implement the National Food Security Act -2013 and Punjab Food Security Rules -2016 and under this, it should be ensured that the service reaches every beneficiary at the right time.

He ordered the District Food Supply Controller to put up clear boards and helpline numbers at all ration depots. He also directed the Health Department to conduct regular inspection of milk and milk products and ensure medical screening of cooks and helpers in schools and Anganwadi centers.

Sekhon reviewed the preparation and storage of mid-day meal in School Rajinder Nagar and expressed satisfaction with the quality of food . During this, he appealed to be vigilant regarding the storage of rations during the rainy season and said that the process of cleaning and exposing the food to sunlight should be done specially before using it .

After this, he also conducted surprise checks at Government Primary School Rajinder Nagar, Anganwadi Center Rajinder Nagar and Guara. He directed that the cooks preparing mid-day meals should cover their heads and wash their hands before cooking , and that their medical examination should be mandatory. He said that such meetings and spot checks would be conducted continuously in future as well so that the Act is not violated at any level .

Sekhon finally said that the Punjab State Food Commission is fully committed to providing quality and transparent services to the general public.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Rimpi Garg , District Program Officer Ratinderpal Kaur , DIO Dr. Rajvir Bains , Child Development Project Officers Pawan Kumar and Puran Pankaj Sharma , DEO (Elementary) Karan Kumar , Principal Kamlesh , AFSO Charan Pal Singh , Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Rakhi Vinayak , Food Safety Officer Sandeep Singh Sandhu , DSE Mohammad Rizwan and officers from many departments were present.
