District Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Officer Barnala Mrs. Navjot Kaur informed that under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), the youth are being given internship opportunities in 500 reputed companies across the country.
He said that eligible candidates will get internships in various roles in various sectors including IT such as Software Development, Banking and Financial Services, Oil, Gas and Energy, FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods), Telecom, Industrial, Chemical, Media Entertainment and Education, Textile Manufacturing, Travel and Hospitality, Healthcare etc.
He said that the internship under the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme will be for a period of one year (12 months). To become a beneficiary of this scheme, the applicant should be a citizen of India, the age limit of the applicant is 21 to 24 years, the applicant should not be studying full time in any institution (candidates enrolled in online or distance learning programs are eligible), any applicant whose educational qualification is 10th, 12th, ITI, Diploma pass from a polytechnic college, Graduation pass can apply.
He said that through this scheme, candidates will learn to work in reputed companies, gain experience and also receive financial assistance.
In addition, a one-time grant of Rs. 6,000 will be provided to the candidate by the Government of India after joining the internship.
The last date to apply for internship is 12 March 2025. Eligible candidates can register on the PM Internship Portal ( https://pminternship.mca.gov.in/ ), create their profile and apply for 3 internship vacancies from the list of opportunities available on the portal.
He further informed that internship vacancies are available in companies like HDFC, Dabur India, India Oil Limited, and Reliance Industries Limited in the district.
He said that the candidates can apply by bringing Aadhaar card, educational certificate (completion, final examination evaluation certificate will be considered) and a recent passport size photograph to the District Employment and Entrepreneurship Bureau, Second Floor, District Administrative Complex, Barnala on any working day.
