Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Moga, Mrs. Charumita informed that under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) are constituted in the district for the protection and care of children aged 0 to 18 years, and for those who come in conflict with the law due to various reasons. These bodies have the authority to make appropriate decisions while keeping the future and rights of children in mind.
Mrs. Charumita stated that the tenure of both the Child Welfare Committee and the Juvenile Justice Board is three years. She mentioned that the term of the existing CWC and JJB in the district has ended, and hence, two new qualified members will be appointed for the Juvenile Justice Board, and one Chairperson along with four members will be appointed for the Child Welfare Committee. These appointments will be made under Sections 27 and 4 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
She further informed that eligible individuals can apply for these positions according to the rules and conditions mentioned on the official website of the Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Punjab, Chandigarh.
