23 JUNE 2025 FACT RECORDER
Punjab Desk: The monsoon has officially entered Punjab, arriving a week ahead of its expected schedule through the Pathankot region. The early onset has brought relief from the intense summer heat, but it also comes with a caution: the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in various districts.
Key Highlights:
Monsoon Entry Point: Entered Punjab via Pathankot.
Ahead of Schedule: Arrived approximately 7 days early.
Weather Alert: IMD has issued an orange alert predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr (SBS Nagar), and Ropar.
Precautionary Measures: Authorities have advised residents to stay alert and avoid low-lying and water-logging-prone areas.
This early monsoon is expected to bring a significant dip in temperatures and provide much-needed moisture for the ongoing Kharif crop sowing season, especially for paddy farmers. However, excessive rainfall could also lead to flooding concerns, prompting local administrations to remain on high alert.
