Batala,May 26,2025 FACT RECORDER

The Punjab Government has launched a state-wide war against drugs, which is receiving overwhelming support from the public. This was stated by Punjab Working President and MLA Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi while addressing residents of Wards 26, 33, 34, and 32 in Batala. On this occasion, he also administered an oath to the attendees to fight against drugs.

While addressing the gathering, MLA Sherry Kalsi said that the Punjab Government has initiated a comprehensive campaign against drug abuse, and its positive outcomes are already becoming visible. However, to completely eradicate the drug menace from its roots, public cooperation is absolutely essential.

He stated that under the Drug-Free Journey initiative, efforts are being made to mobilize people from every village, town, street, and neighborhood so that they can fearlessly report drug dealers. He assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. Those innocently trapped in drug addiction will be treated with compassion, and the government is working seriously on their rehabilitation. However, this mission cannot succeed through government and police efforts alone — the involvement of every citizen is crucial.

He further added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has started working extensively. He also mentioned that action is being taken against those who have amassed property from illegal drug trade. In many places, drug traffickers have fled their homes, locking them up, and their properties are being confiscated.

Present on the occasion were Tehsildar Arjan Singh Grewal, Manager Atar Singh, Master Tilak Raj, Amit Sodhi, Honey Chauhan, Manjeet Singh Bumrah, Sunny Masih, Pradeep Kumar, Veenu Kahlon, Lambardar Amrik Singh, along with many ward residents and youth in large numbers.
