Punjab Desk: The Jain community is celebrating the holy festival of Samvatsari Mahaparva from August 20 to August 27. During these days, any form of violence is considered highly inauspicious.

To ensure that the religious sentiments of the Jain community are not hurt and to prevent any possible misuse of the situation by miscreants, Rahul Chaba, District Magistrate of Sangrur, exercising the powers vested under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, has issued an order directing that on August 27 (Wednesday), all meat, fish, and egg shops/stalls, non-vegetarian hotels/dhabas, and establishments in District Sangrur remain closed to maintain peace and law & order in the district.
