Doorstep resolution of public problems is the top priority of the government- Vikramaditya Singh

Punjab Desk: Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh today presided over the Government at Village Door program held in Nihari, a remote Gram Panchayat in the Sundernagar Assembly constituency. During the program, 181 complaints and problems from nine panchayats in the area were resolved.
During the Government Village Door program, approximately 108 complaints and problems were received from the people of Gram Panchayat Nihari, Ghadoi, Bajauhan, Rohanda, Segal, Dumt Baihali, Jaral, Bandli, and Gram Panchayat Marhada Badehan. Of these, 98 were already resolved at the administrative level, while 83 problems received today were resolved on the spot, while various demands were forwarded to the concerned departments.
On this occasion, Vikramaditya Singh said that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, is giving top priority to listening to the voice of the people and resolving their problems at their doorsteps. To this end, the government has launched several new initiatives, including organizing village-level meetings and revenue Lok Adalats. He said that while this is ensuring prompt and timely resolution of people’s everyday problems, various departmental exhibitions and service centers are also providing free health checkups, disability certificates, and various other services near their homes.
He stated that most of the problems and demands presented today relate to the Public Works Department, Revenue Department, Forest Department, Electricity Board, Health Department, and Education Department, and necessary guidelines have been issued on the spot to the concerned departments for their resolution. Praising the villagers of Nihari, he said that today’s program was organized in a very civilized and harmonious atmosphere, for which all the public and officials deserve praise. He assured that every single issue presented here has been taken seriously and he himself will monitor their progress.
The Public Works Minister stated that the department is prioritizing road connectivity in remote areas. He stated that the main road to Nehri via Pandar is being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-3, and work will begin this month. He strictly instructed department officials to ensure the work is completed within the stipulated timeframe and in accordance with established standards. He urged people to voluntarily contribute to development by donating land. He stated that he would also raise the issue of naming roads after such land donors with the Chief Minister. Upon the request of former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sohan Lal, he also assured the Public Works Department that the Forest Department would soon deposit the levy amount of ₹1.25 crore required for afforestation for the construction of the Neri to Badhu road. He stated that to address the problem of power load in the area, 16 new DTRs are being installed and 22 transformers are being upgraded.
Vikramaditya Singh stated that approximately ₹2,300 crore has been approved for the construction of approximately 1,500 km of roads in the state under the first batch of PMGSY-4. Furthermore, he recently met with the Union Minister in Delhi and raised the issue of extending ongoing works under PMGSY-3. As a result, these works have been granted a two-year extension, under which the Public Works Department has set a target of completing works worth approximately ₹3,000 crore within the stipulated timeframe.
The Public Works Minister also assured the Chief Minister that he would address the vacant posts at Nihari College, provide funds for the remaining work on the Nihari Community Health Center building, and establish the Tehsil Welfare Officer’s office in Nihari. He also directed the concerned department to make arrangements for the Tehsil Welfare Officer to sit in Nihari for a few days a month. He said that priority is being given to completing such under-construction buildings, where 70 to 80 percent of the work has been completed, and dedicating them to the public on time.
Earlier, he visited service centers and exhibitions organized by various departments and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state by paying obeisance at the original Mahunnag temple. During the health check-up camp, 216 people were examined, while 48 disabled cases were also examined. RC and learning licenses were also issued by the SDM office.
On this occasion, former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sohan Lal, former candidate Naresh Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Apoorva Devgan, Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gursimar Singh, senior officers of various departments, Nihari Block Youth Congress President Vicky Thakur, former Sundernagar Youth Congress President Mohit Thakur and other dignitaries were present.
