Mohali firing: Real estate businessman narrowly escapes gun attack, police launch manhunt for shooters
Punjab Desk: — Panic gripped Mohali’s Airport Road late Friday night when unidentified bike-borne assailants opened fire at a real estate businessman and his friend. The victims, identified as Dheeraj Sharma, a resident of Sunny Enclave and owner of Balaji Estate on Desu Majra Road, narrowly escaped by ducking under their car seats as bullets flew past them.
According to reports, the attackers continued firing while fleeing the scene. Dheeraj immediately informed the police after the incident, following which multiple police teams rushed to the spot and began an investigation.
Police recovered several bullet shells from the scene and have registered a case. While no arrests have been made yet, checkpoints were set up across Airport Road, New Chandigarh, and nearby areas to trace the attackers.
Preliminary investigation suggests the firing may be linked to an old enmity or a previous threat, though the exact motive is still under investigation. CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being examined to identify the culprits.
Police teams continue to conduct raids at various locations, and efforts are underway to track down the shooters who remain at large.
