Office of District Public Relations Officer, Rupnagar District Police arrested 04 persons in cases of theft and NDPS Act

Punjab Desk: Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar S. Gulneet Singh Khurana while giving information said that as per the directions of Director General of Police Punjab Mr. Gaurav Yadav and under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police Rupnagar Range Rupnagar S. Nanak Singh, under the campaign “War on Drugs” being run by Rupnagar Police against drug smugglers and anti-social elements, the District Police arrested two persons in cases registered under the NDPS Act and recovered 18 grams of narcotic substance/powder from them and arrested two persons who carried out the motorcycle theft incident of Sri Chamkaur Sahib and recovered the stolen motorcycles from them.
He further informed that in continuation of the “War Against Drugs” campaign, the District Police checked drug smugglers and evil elements through roadblocks and patrols at various places, during which Harjinder Singh, a resident of village Kheri, Sadar Rupnagar police station, was arrested and 5 grams of narcotics were recovered from him, and Ajay alias Ajju, a resident of NFF Colony, Nangal, was arrested and 13 grams of narcotic powder was recovered from him by the Nangal police station. Cases were registered against them under the NDPS Act, in which further action is being taken.
S. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that apart from this, the wanted person Gurvinder Singh Gindi, resident of Manjitpura Hall, resident of village Manemajra, Sri Chamkaur Sahib Hall, resident of village Salempur, police station Sadar Morinda, was arrested in case number 27 dated 07.04.2024 registered at police station Sri Chamkaur Sahib under section 379-B, 307,120 (B), 341 IPC, 207 MV Act, who admitted during interrogation that he along with his accomplices had stolen Royal Enfield number PB-30 F-5309 from the area of police station Motor, district Mohali and Hero Splendor motorcycle number PB-65AG-8679 from the area of village Siswan, Baddi Road, police station Mullanpur, district Mohali. On which, police station Sri Chamkaur Sahib has registered a B.N.S. Another case was registered under the sections of IPC and the stolen motorcycles were recovered, further investigation of which is underway.
Apart from this, he said that in continuation of the ‘Sampark’ project, meetings were held by the district police to make the general public aware of the ill effects of drugs and to increase police-public coordination. They were informed about the Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline and their suggestions were also taken.
SSP Rupnagar appealed to the public that if any person is involved in drug trafficking/smuggling in their area, then their information should be shared on Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline number 97791-00200 (WhatsApp chatbot) or the District Police number. The name and address of the informant will be kept confidential.
