Punjab Desk: District Magistrate of Faridkot, Ms. Poonamdeep Kaur, exercising the powers granted under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, has issued orders making it mandatory for all hotels and restaurants operating in District Faridkot to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

As per the issued orders, hotel and restaurant owners must secure the NOC from relevant departments, including the Senior Superintendent of Police, Executive Engineer of the Provincial Division of PWD (B&R), District Town Planner, concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Municipal Councils, Fire Officers, and others, before being granted the required approval.

Hotel and restaurant owners are directed to submit the application to the competent authority within 15 days from the publication of this order, so that an appropriate decision can be taken. A copy of the NOC must be displayed prominently at the hotel, marriage palace, or restaurant premises.

It has also been made clear that any hotel or restaurant failing to obtain the NOC from the competent authority will be shut down. Newly constructed hotels or restaurants must also secure the NOC within 15 days. In case of non-compliance, all operations will be halted.

Additionally, for public safety, annual inspections will be conducted from time to time. The District Magistrate stated that many hotels or restaurants, whether operating or under construction, often have various technical shortcomings which may pose risks to public safety, leading to potential loss of life and property.

These orders will remain effective until October 14, 2025.
