Health Desk:  Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Navjot Kaur, IAS, under the leadership of Acting Civil Surgeon Dr. Kanwalpreet Kaur Brar, under the ‘Every Friday – Fight against Dengue’ campaign, breeding checking, spraying activities and awareness camps were organized in various streets and houses of Mansa city to create awareness about prevention of dengue and chikungunya. Larvicide was also sprayed on finding larvae.
On this occasion, Dr. Kanwalpreet Kaur Brar said that for the prevention of dengue in the district, the health department teams are checking the larvae and information is being given for the prevention of dengue. She said that vector-borne diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, malaria etc. can spread due to rainwater. To prevent this, tires lying on the roofs of buildings/houses, broken pots, water from coolers, junk lying in junk shops etc. should be emptied and dried. The water in the refrigerator tray, money plant bottle should be emptied and dried once a week and then filled with water again. If these places are not cleaned and dried, mosquitoes breed which causes the spread of dengue. Dengue fever is caused by the bite of a mosquito called Aedes aegypti.

On this occasion, District Group Education and Information Officer Vijay Kumar Jain said that if a person has symptoms like high fever, vomiting, pain in the eyes, pain in the joints and bones, etc., then he should go to the nearest health institution and get himself tested. To prevent mosquito bites, one should wear clothes that cover the entire body and use mosquito repellent creams and mosquito nets while sleeping. Dengue testing is done free of cost in all government hospitals. ASHA workers are going from house to house to identify suspected patients, bring them to the camp and get them tested as per the doctor’s instructions.
On this occasion, Mr. Santosh Bharti, District Epidemiologist, Deputy Mass Media and Information Officer Darshan Singh, Health Supervisor Ram Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Insect Collector Krishan Kumar, Health Workers Baljit Singh, Gurinderjit Sharma, ANM, ASHA workers and Breeding Checkers were also present.
