Health Department Team Conducts Dengue Larvae Inspection in Educational Institutions

Health Desk:  Under the campaign “Every Friday, a Strike on Dengue”, the Health Department team conducted inspections for dengue larvae at D.A.V. Senior Secondary School, Mansa, and Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Mansa.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Ranjit Singh Rai stated that, considering the monsoon season, it is essential to take precautions against diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. As part of this initiative, the department’s team inspects for dengue larvae every Friday and spreads awareness among the public. Wherever larvae are found, they are immediately destroyed on the spot.

He informed that health department teams are inspecting mosquito larvae in urban and rural areas, public places, offices, and educational institutions. If any larvae are found, the concerned department is notified for further action. At the village level, multipurpose health supervisors, multipurpose health workers, and ASHA workers are visiting households to raise awareness about preventing dengue and malaria, advising people not to allow water to stagnate in empty spaces or containers and to maintain cleanliness of coolers and similar water-storing items.

Additionally, an awareness seminar was organized at Dera Baba Bhai Gurdas under the anti-drug campaign. The head of the Dera, Keshav Muni Ji, provided special support for the event. During the seminar, Dr. Ashu (Medical Officer) and his team specifically educated the attendees about the harmful effects of drugs.

Present on the occasion were Dr. Mayank from DMC, Principal Shri Vinod Rana of D.A.V. Senior Secondary School, teachers Balraj Singh, Gulab Singh, Jasmeen Singh, and Sameer Sharma; Principal Dr. Vijay Midha of Government Senior Secondary School; Vijay Kumar (District Mass Education and Information Officer); Darshan Singh (Deputy Mass Education and Information Officer); Shri Santosh Bharti (Epidemiologist); Ram Kumar; Sanjeev Kumar; Baljit Singh; Gurinder Jeet; Krishna Lal (Nursing Student, Malwa College); ANMs; ASHA workers; and students of the schools.
