Punjab Desk:  To completely stop the incidents of burning paddy stubble, Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tidke held a special meeting with the departmental officers today . On this occasion , Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh , Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu , Assistant Commissioner Rakesh Garg , Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Dharminderjit Singh , Agriculture Officer Pardeep Singh Tiwana , Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Karanvir Randhawa , Assistant Registrar Simranpreet Kaur , D. S. P. Manavjit Singh , D. S. P. Satish Kumar , A. F. S. O. Rajan Gupta and officers of various departments were present .

The Deputy Commissioner said that continuous initiatives are being taken by the civil and police administration to prevent burning of paddy stubble and crop residue. He directed the officers of the Agriculture Department and Cluster Officers to make maximum farmers aware about the “Unnat Kisan App” so that they can get immediate information about the availability of machinery and alternative management . He said that the Nodal and Cluster Officers should be directed to maintain constant contact with the farmers and run awareness campaigns on not burning stubble . The Deputy Commissioner also said that incidents of stubble burning should be kept under control , especially the “ hot spot areas ” .

On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh said that in the villages where the paddy harvest has been completed , police and civil administration teams are making farmers aware . He said that farmers are also being made aware about the adverse effects of stubble burning on the environment , health and soil fertility

He said that the Cluster Officers appointed in the villages and the concerned SHOs are continuously making the farmers aware with mutual coordination so that the incidents of stubble burning in the district can be completely stopped by adopting a “ Zero Tolerance ” policy .
