Punjab Desk: Following the directives of the Punjab Government, the district administration of Sangrur is actively running an awareness campaign to discourage stubble burning and encourage proper stubble management using farm machinery. Village-level camps are being organized to educate farmers about the harmful effects of burning crop residue on the environment and to motivate them to adopt modern agricultural machinery for residue management.
To effectively manage incidents of stubble burning and to provide guidance on using agricultural machinery, a district-level control room has been established. Deputy Commissioner of Sangrur, Mr. Rahul Chaba, emphasized that farmers and the general public should make full use of this facility.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that upon receiving information about stubble burning, proper coordination between line departments and the public can be ensured through this control room, which is set up on the ground floor of the District Administrative Complex, Office of the Assistant Commissioner (General), Room No. 18. The control room can be reached at 01672-234196, and it will operate daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Citizens can report any incidents of stubble burning on this number.
Furthermore, to completely eliminate stubble burning incidents in Sangrur and to promote maximum use of agricultural machinery by farmers, Shri Rohit Singla of the Action Punjab Pollution Control Board, Sangrur, has been appointed as the nodal officer for this initiative.
