Health Desk: Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Fazilka, Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, and the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Mandeep Kaur, the District Administration Fazilka is continuously working on an intensive campaign against dengue. Teams from the Municipal Council Fazilka and the Health Department Fazilka are conducting visits in different areas of the city and maintaining constant surveillance in hotspot regions to ensure complete elimination of dengue.
Under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Rohit Goel and Executive Officer Mr. Vikram Dhuria, the Health Department and the Municipal Council Fazilka have intensified their joint anti-dengue activities. Teams are visiting homes to check refrigerator trays, flower pots, open utensils, water tanks, and other places where water may collect, and are raising awareness among all family members about preventive measures against dengue.
They stated that fogging operations are also being carried out to control mosquito breeding. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with the visiting teams so that the spread of dengue can be prevented and people can be protected from illness. They further appealed to the public to support the district administration in this campaign against dengue.
They advised that anyone showing symptoms such as fever, cold, or fatigue should immediately visit the Civil Hospital for examination. Dengue testing at the hospital is completely free of cost.
Dr. Sunita Kamboj explained that dengue spreads through the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito, which breeds in clean stagnant water and usually bites during the daytime. Therefore, all possible mosquito breeding sources must be destroyed.
She advised that Clean the water in coolers and flower pot trays at least once a week, Wear clothes that cover the body to prevent mosquito bites, Use mosquito nets, repellents, and creams while sleeping, in case of fever, avoid aspirin and brufen; take only paracetamol, Keep water tanks on rooftops properly covered, Do not leave broken utensils, drums, or tyres lying in open spaces and also Drink plenty of fluids and eat a balanced diet to stay healthy.
