Instructions to exercise greater vigilance to curb incidents of stubble burning
Farmers were also asked to be motivated for proper management of stubble.

Punjab Desk: Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, while reviewing the incidents of preventing the burning of paddy stubble and other waste in the fields, instructed all the cluster and nodal officers of the district to remain steadfast in the field from morning to evening.
Today, at the District Administrative Complex here, during a meeting with SSP, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Mandeep Kaur and Additional Deputy (Development) Subhash Chander and officials of the concerned departments, the Deputy Commissioner directed all the cluster and nodal officers to keep a more vigilant eye on the field to curb the cases of stubble burning and to motivate the farmers for proper management of stubble!
He told the nodal and cluster officers that the Punjab Pollution Control Board is monitoring the incidents of stubble burning through satellite. Therefore, special care should be taken that no stubble in any field is set on fire at their duty stations! He said that the nodal and cluster officers should make the farmers aware of not burning stubble through announcements in the gurdwaras and by reaching the fields themselves and also tell them about the damages caused due to burning stubble!
Deputy Commissioner and SSP S. Gurmeet Singh said that many farmers in the district are making straw bales under stubble management, which is a very good initiative, but the cluster and nodal officers should also take special care that no farmer sets fire to the remaining residue at the place where the straw bales are! He asked all the nodal officers and cluster officers to perform their duties with full dedication and if they face any kind of problem, they should inform the district administration.
He asked the officials of the Agriculture Department to encourage farmers to manage crop residues and also provide full support in this regard.
On this occasion, SDM Fazilka Veerpal Kaur, Assistant Commissioner Amandeep Singh Mavi, Chief Agriculture Officer Harpreetpal Kaur and Agriculture Officer Madam Mamta along with officials from various departments were also present!
